Where it all began. Starting out as a basement operation, The Brewery now sits proudly on Colchester High Street surrounded by historic artefacts, with Colchester Castle on our door step and the remains of a significant Roman bath house beneath us.
The Brewery has seen the production Other Monkey Brewing’s incredible Core Range which includes our signature Pale Ale ‘Great Journey Begins’ as well as a selection of other well-loved craft beers and IPAs. Collaborations have also taken place throughout the years which have encouraged the creation of a variety of flavoured specials.

Soft Launch
The wait is officially over!
Last week Other Monkey Brewing saw the opening of it’s latest evolution - The Taproom.
On Friday 10th December our soft launch took place and the doors finally opened. The evening consisted of trying out exceptional guest beers, incredible food and drink pairings and giving our customers a special preview of Colchester's newest, most unique taproom experience and a glimpse of what's to come in 2022.
Equipment installed
We recently had a visit from SSV Limited as they kicked off the installation of our brand new 5HL Brew Bloc.
The week consisted of taking over the streets of Colchester as our Brew Blocs were unloaded. Due to a few ‘15th century building’ shaped obstacles, this turned out to be a rather compact installation which meant the incredible team were kept on their toes to ensure a smooth process.
After some final touch ups involving our cellar tanks and pipework, our Brew Bloc and Cold Room is all set and ready for the reveal!
Initial guest beers chosen
Our opening week guest beers have been confirmed and we couldn’t be happier!
We have selected a range of local and high-quality beers to fill our taps for our first official Guest Beer Menu.
Appearances for our guest beer selection comes from the likes of Duration, North Brewing, Anspach & Hobday, Burnt Mill and more.
Our Guest Beer Menu will include a range of draught, cask and keg ales and beers to ensure that there truly is a beer for everyone.
